Krav Maga is the most effective martial art in existence for self defense.
A street fight is not confined to a weight class, hands are not wrapped to protect fists, and there is no referee to decide when a fighter is too injured to continue. Training with KingBird Krav Maga Federation teaches students the skills needed to end an attack as quickly as possible.
Practitioners always train with the assumption that attackers are bigger, stronger, and have “friends.”
Principles of Krav Maga include:
• Never trying to match an opponent’s strength
• Always striking to vulnerable targets
• For every defensive maneuver there is a simultaneous offensive technique
Part of training is learning that in a fight the victim must be able to turn the tables quickly. Once they are attacked they are no longer the victim, now the victim becomes the aggressor.
Students of Krav Maga learn a multitude of self defense techniques and strikes, including defenses against sticks, knives, guns and multiple attackers. Realistic training is emphasized, and sparring is an important part of the curriculum. Krav Maga defenses are based upon actual human reflexes – the body’s natural responses
Boxing is the art of hitting your opponent from the furthest distance away while exposing as little of your own body as possible, positioning yourself to strike with maximum leverage, and not getting hit in return
A friend once shared an experience that highlights the difference between a typical gym and our academy. After training at a martial arts school for a year, he ran into his instructor at a grocery store. He greeted him warmly, but the instructor responded with a puzzled “Hey… dude,” and walked past without recognizing him. It was clear that, even after a year, his instructor didn’t know his name.
Krav Maga and Boxing foster physical fitness, discipline, confidence, and respect while imparting crucial self-defense skills. Few after-school activities offer the comprehensive benefits and life skills provided by these martial arts.
Martial arts and Boxing emphasize structured training, respect for instructors and coaches and peers, and adherence to martial arts principles.
Yes, at Kingbird we prioritize safety with qualified instructors, controlled environments, and age-appropriate training
Children generally begin kingbird Krav Maga classes at around age 10, while boxing is suitable for those as young as 7. For boxing, we simply require that kids understand their left from their right and can follow basic instructions to ensure a productive training experience. Boxing serves as an excellent foundation for Krav Maga, as its founder, Imi Lichtenfeld, was a boxer and wrestler in his youth.
Absolutely. I can think of no better start for your child.
They build confidence through achieving goals, overcoming challenges, and mastering techniques in a supportive environment.
At Kingbird, we prioritize personalized attention and safety with our small class sizes of no more than 12 kids per session. Unlike other academies where classes can exceed 30 or 40 students, our smaller groups ensure each child receives ample individual instruction and guidance. This not only enhances safety but also accelerates their progress by allowing instructors to closely monitor and support each student’s development.
Expect a structured introduction to basic movements, etiquette, and some light technique work to gauge interest and readiness.
We have shorts and academy shirts available online for purchase at no additional markup. Specific equipment like gloves or pads may be required depending on what training you’ve chosen for your child.
Not at Kingbird! We are dedicated to transparency and upfront pricing. Unlike commercial academies that impose heavy markups for T-shirts, uniforms, equipment, testing and belt promotions, we simplify the process. We provide all equipment at cost, with no markups or hidden fees, and there are no extra charges for rank advancement. You earn, not buy your advancement.
The academy has a one time $150 equipment fee. This fee supports the replacement of gear, which experiences heavy use and is replaced often. We want you to enjoy your families training without the worry of hidden fees affecting your families budget.
All training at Kingbird is on a month-to-month basis. However, we offer discounts for those who wish to pay for several months upfront, as it helps us manage our budget and costs more effectively.
We also understand the importance of maintaining a positive and supportive environment. As a private academy, we sometimes encounter clients who may not fit well with our culture. In such cases, we reserve the right to make adjustments to ensure the best experience for everyone.
If you need to take a break or adjust your schedule, just give us a couple of weeks’ notice so we can manage the spot.
