Growing up in the tough Motor City of Detroit, I discovered my passion for boxing and martial arts through my father, a Detroit police officer. My journey began 35 years ago with the elite Detroit Judo Club and the Police Athletic League Boxing team, and continued at the world famous Kronk Boxing Gym on McGraw Avenue.
Transitioning from my amateur boxing career to coaching, I had the privilege of being mentored by legendary coach and trainer Kenny Weldon at Galena Park Boxing Academy in Texas—a training ground for world champions, national champions, and Olympians.
Over the years, I have immersed myself in a variety of martial arts and self-defense disciplines, training with esteemed instructors from around the globe, including the USA, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Israel. My journey into Krav Maga began with my initial training trip to Israel, where I gained a deep appreciation for its practical approach to real-world self-defense. Since then, I have visited Israel five times and developed a close friendship with Ron Rotem, the former head of the Israeli Defense Forces' Krav Maga section, with whom I continue to train. These experiences have profoundly shaped my approach, providing me with invaluable lessons and a deep appreciation for the journey. I am deeply grateful for each experience and owe my progress to God, hard work, and the guidance of world-class coaches and trainers.
